I have been playing 1/3 cash once a week since Encore opened. I DO NOT feel the poker room and staff are deserving of some of these harsh reviews. Some people just like to complain and find the negative.
I think the poker room is very nice with great potential. I have a few 'reasonable' thoughts and suggestions I will mention:
- Consider lowering standard rake to $5 (w/o promos)
- Drink service has improved but quality and selection could be better
- Sometimes the hands play fast and I feel a bit rushed to act when I have an important decision
- Would be helpful if comps are easier to use and viewable online
Overall I enjoy playing here and I'm appreciative to have a quality
poker room close to home.
I have not had any problems here and find the management and staff to be friendly. I think there's always room for improvements but we also need to be reasonable. Thank you and please consider my suggestions !!

Pros : The employees are all extremely polite and respectful. There are phone chargers on the tables. Somehow, they don't all work, however. You can register for a waitlist before arriving at the casino.

Cons : The cocktail service is the worst service of any kind that I've ever experienced. Sometimes they take orders when dropping off, sometimes they don't. They often don't come back to take your order when they tell you they will. They literally forget your order about 50% of the time. It takes far too long to get a drink. One night it took 2 hours and 10 minutes. I thought this was supposed to be a 5 star casino?
Food is very expensive, and their comps aren't working yet, so you cannot use any. They also only give you $1 an hour, which is very little.
They are taking extra rake for the jackpot, which they don't even have yet. Not cool that I'm paying for promos that I can't win. That money is lost since I won't be back when they start up.
Only Verizon cell service seems to work here. Their WiFi is terrible.
The cashier is egregiously slow, and you have to get your first buy in at the cage.
The action was disappointing. Some games are pretty good, but considering how much money there is in Boston, I find most games shallow and underwhelming.
The only time you are allowed to change seats is when a player leaves the table. The dealer will ask if anyone wants the seat. After that, you can’t move.
The tables on the balcony are extremely loud at night, making it very difficult to communicate with anyone at the table. Dealers on those tables struggle to hear as well.
Many of the dealers are slow and make lots of mistakes. A dealer called the clock on a player after 30 seconds because they thought it was protocol. There are lots of mistakes with moving the button, and not getting change during hands. One of the dealers kept taking full rake short handed even though he was told 3 times to do half rake.
I couldn’t get in a game one night because they kept starting a new game with 6 players and I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to go to a mostly full game. I also opted to not go play on a Friday, due to the absurdly long wait list. The 1/3 wait list had over 100 people on it and 2/5 had 50-60 at one point.
